Big Day of Giving

WHAT CAN WE ACCOMPLISH TOGETHER?

Why Is Big Day of Giving So Important?

Big Day of Giving is a 24-hour online giving challenge, from 12:00am to 11:59pm on May 2, 2024, that allows donors to support their favorite Sacramento region non-profit in a safe and secure way. Runnin’ for Rhett uses this opportunity to fund our Youth Fitness Shoe Program for the coming year. Every $35 we receive puts a new pair of athletic shoes on a deserving child in our program.

Big Day of Giving is a generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform our community, and raises much needed funds for LOCAL non-profit organizations. How can you help support Runnin’ for Rhett during this fundraising campaign?

Active Kids Do Better.

“According to Dr. John Ratey, author of Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise And The Brain, “there is a direct correlation between the degree of fitness a child has and their cognitive ability, their test scores, their academic success.” At Runnin’ for Rhett, we believe by introducing a child to running and equipping them with the shoes they need, we are setting them up for success in the classroom as well as in life.

Since beginning the Youth Fitness Program in 2010, Runnin’ for Rhett has gotten more than 46,000 kids MOVING INTO LIFE.  Our goal is to reach 50,000 students by 2025.  Please consider a donation of $42 (the cost to put one child through our Youth Fitness Program) or more to support deserving kids in our community and to put them on a path to happier, healthier lives.

ONLINE GIVING BEGINS APRIL 18, 2024

Why Do We Give?

“Runnin’ for Rhett and its mission to help folks “move into life” resonates on many levels. It encourages kids and adults to be active through physical fitness. But, it also supports moving into life by encouraging good mental health by building and maintaining a strong social community.” ~Tina Lee-Vogt

“We joined Runnin’ for Rhett a few years ago and quickly discovered that we were surrounded by truly special people who strive to make our community better for young and old. It’s a rare organization that contributes so much on so many levels and we are proud to support R4R and help them inspire our community to MOVE INTO LIFE!” ~Ray & Mary Margaret Henson

“We believe in Runnin’ for Rhett’s mission to inspire people of all walks of life to Move Into Life.  We are particularly inspired by the Youth Fitness Program.  Teaching our younger generation that physical fitness and nutrition is an important component to a healthier lifestyle can lead to perpetual habits beneficial to them as well as their family and friends.” ~ Jeannie and Bill Galarpe

“Youth are my passion.  I believe the children love to move together and our Runnin’ for Rhett after school fitness program is full of movement and group bonding.”  ~Angela Spease
