The Runnin’ for Rhett Scholarship has been established to encourage and support students in their pursuit of a teaching credential, specifically those seeking to work with children with special needs.
The scholarship funds will be awarded to a student(s) participating in a Sacramento County Teaching Credential Program. Applicants MUST be enrolled in a program working with children with moderate to severe disabilities.
Amount of each scholarship is $2,500.00
Application Checklist
The following items MUST be included with your application:
Most recent college transcripts
Personal statement explaining your college and career goals. This statement must be at least 250 words in length and should include information about:
Your selected area of study
Your academic goals in your program
The specific occupation or profession you intend to enter
How has your life been affected by children with special needs
Two letters of recommendation. At least one of these letters must be from a teacher, school counselor, school administrator, or other professional who knows your qualities as a student. See more information on the application form.
Please note: TWO interviews may be required. Interviews will occur after all applications have been received and reviewed.
A $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to a recipient at the start of Runnin’ for Rhett’s “RUN BECAUSE YOU CAN 5K and 10K” race on Sunday, November 3rd, 2013. All applications must be received at Runnin’ for Rhett Headquarters by Friday, October 4th, 2013 at 11:59 pm. Finalists will be given face-to-face interviews the week of October 21st through October 25th, 2013.
